Design

My first project that I took upon myself was a Marketing campaign for a Psychologist called Kit Kenny. For Kit I decided I would help her get her name around the local area. To start I was going to design and print her own brochure and then I would also create her own Website using the same colour scheme and design type.

Above you can see the Front & Back of the final design that I went with. These were designing using Adobe Photoshop where I was able to cater for what exactly the client wanted.

Kitkenny.com
For the website I designed I went with the same colour scheme that I used in the brochure and used the application Dreamweaver to design this site.

Please feel free to go to the site and look around.

The "SKI BOOT"

In my third year in University of Limerick I had a module called product design. In this module I had to design a ski boot using software from adobe. I used for the basic design of the boot Adobe Illustrator. This is like using a ruler on a white piece of paper. Here is a brief example:

Now that I had the design of that done I then had to start the shading of the boot. In this its not as simple as just using a marker and colouring in a page it involves taking each section in between the lines and giving it the correct amount of shade.
Throught the mentoring of our lecture Niall Deloughry he was able to show me how to do this technique and after a bit of trial and error I was able to master the technique.

As you can see how it maybe difficult shading in parts of this but when you put your head to it and show some determination you can get anything done.

Solidworks Project 2009

In my second semester in 2009 I had a module where I was using the software Solidworks. This was the first time I had ever used this program and I knew it would be difficult. Our project we were to design a Carving Knife. Not only did we have to design the outer shell but the inner working of it also. From the time we got the project we had ten weeks to do this design so all in all we had enough time to get it completed.

Here is the final design I chose. With the software in solid works I renders it very well:
Carving Knife

To give you a good idea of the knife I have a video where it disassembles itself.

This project wouldn't of been as successful if I didn't have the guidance from my lecture Tony Rynn and with his encouragement to be creative he helped me get this project where it is.

"The Gambler"

In Second year myself and a few other students were doing a project for a module in University of Limerick. In this module we had to come up with a concept for our video and  figure out the process we would go about when making the film.
As a start we sat down and done some brain storming and after some ideas were tossed around we settled on the Idea for a man who was trying to gain some money for a big game.....but you will see when you look athe the video.
Before we even started filming we had to come up with story boards and locations for filming and who would be staring in the film its self..
Some of the film equipment we used was:

  • Camera
  • Lights and stand
  • Props (tables and chairs etc)
  • Microphones
After all the filming we then had to edit it on software called Final Cut Pro. This is a very time consuming process but has to be done right. It was hard mainly because the filming was not all in sequence form start to finish. So we had to make sure all the clips were labeled correctly and then we edited the best clips we filmed and put in together.

Enjoy.............
